Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation
SCHOOL OF RELIGION (SOR)/ SACRAMENTAL PREP
School of Religion is primarily for children in grades K-8 who are not enrolled in Catholic School, but all children are welcome. In SOR we provide systematic catechesis for children, formation opportunities for families, and preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. SOR meets Sundays, 9:30- 10:45 a.m. from the end of August through the first week of May.
First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation are celebrated in the parish. Preparation takes place in SOR and John Paul II School classrooms with additional parent/child meetings at St. Pius X for each Sacrament. First Reconciliation is usually celebrated in the first semester and First Eucharist at the end of April. Confirmation preparation for all St. Pius X students takes place in grade 8 or above and begins with a parent/student meeting in the Fall and continues with Sunday meetings for students from noon to 2:00 p.m. until Confirmation. Confirmation is scheduled yearly by the Archbishop’s Office and is usually in the Spring.
With questions or to enroll, please contact Kathy O’Bryan at 913-709-1717 or kobryan@spxmission.org.
MARRIAGE

ANNOINTING OF THE SICK
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick confers special graces on those baptized Catholics who are suffering due to a grave illness, old age or in danger of death. This anointing can restore health, if such is according to God’s will, but also confers peace, courage and strength to endure such difficulties in a Christian manner. For those unable to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, this Sacrament also confers the forgiveness of sins and for the dying, preparation for passing over to eternal life. By their ordination, priests and bishops can offer the prayers and administer holy oil to the forehand and hands of the baptized Catholic receiving this sacrament. We are honored to be able to accompany you in this special way during such difficulties. This Sacrament is available at this time, individually, as the priests are available. Please call the office to set an appointment.
